                                                                     Damien

This is Cavell’s best friend more like a brother to him. He supports and cares for Cavell ever since his mum died. He also is trapped in the life of gang culture and sells drugs like Cavell. He is the older of the two friends. He is quite talented at football and is at college studying sport. Both characters want a better life; they are just finding ways to better themselves.
Our target audience is teenagers/young people aged 16-24. The film opening will captivate a visual element of the life of one of the many troubled teenagers that live in the capital.

Universal studios:
Universal pictures is a subsidiary of NBC universal, it is one of the six major movie studios. It was founded in 1912 by Carl Laemmle; it is the oldest American movie studio that is still in continuous production. The next oldest would be Paramount Pictures. On May 11th, 2003, the controlling stake in the company was sold by Vivendi Universal to General Electric who are the parents of NBC. This resulted in a media super-conglomerate which was renamed as NBC Universal. Universal Studios inc however still kept its name. Universal studios not only owned a sizable film library spanning the earliest decades of cinema to more contemporary works but also owns a sizable collections of TV shows through its subsidiary NBC Universal Television Distribution. It also managed to acquire right to several prominent filmmakers’ works that were originally released by other studios through its subsidiaries over the years.
Universal studios have been quite successful over the years as they have come up with film hits like ‘Jaws’. ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘back to the future’ and ‘E.T. the extra terrestrial’.

Brainstorm

Idea for ‘Opening Sequence’

Genre – Drama

We have come up with an idea of an average teenage boy that has been trapped in the life of gang culture. His Mum has recently passed away and he is living by himself or with girlfriend in a flat.

In this opening sequence we will see him getting ready for what appears to be just another day. The opening sequence will provide visual elements of the boy waking up, having a shower and or washing face/brushing teeth, getting dressed and leaving the house to meet his friend who has come to pick him up in the car. There will a short dialogue between the boy and his friend, giving the audience enough information about the boys situation and to know a little bit about the storyline before the pair drive off in a car.

Characters in the piece:

Cavell
This is the main character and focus in the piece. His mum passed away of a long-term illness she was battling with. He is now living with his girlfriend in a flat. Saul bass

Saul bass was a graphic designer and filmmaker. He was best known for his design of film posters and motion picture title sequences.
During his 40-year career Bass worked for some of Hollywood's greatest filmmakers, including Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick and Martin Scorsese. Amongst his most famous title sequences are the animated paper cut-out of a heroin addict's arm for Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm, the credits racing up and down what eventually becomes a high-angle shot of the United Nations building in Hitchcock's North by Northwest, and the disjointed text that races together and apart in Psycho.

Bass designed some of the most iconic corporate logos in North America, including the AT&T "bell" logo in 1969, as well as AT&T's "globe" logo in 1983 after the breakup of the Bell System. He also designed Continental Airlines' 1968 "jetstream" logo and United Airlines' 1974 "tulip" logo which became some of the most recognized airline industry logos of the era.

Official Shooting Schedule

Original Brainstorm for Preliminary Task

Brainstorm:
What- the basis for the preliminary task that Mr Reid has given us would be to create a task that involves filming and editing one of our characters opening a door, going across a room and sitting opposite another person, they then need to have a conversation with each other. During this conversation the camera man needs to prioritize the 180 degrees shot and make sure he gets many of those between the two characters.
As long as we followed these basic guidelines we were allowed to do whatever we wanted with the genre and reasons in which they were having the conversation.
Idea- the idea that our group came up with was a comedy date between Kwame-Lola (Ben) and Diane.
How- we will be doing this by using Peniel’s camera to record the short film, gathering all of the actors at KFC and filming all of the shots then. Any additional shots that may need to be taken or re-done will be filmed on the following day.
When-ASAP
Who- the filming will be done by Jonathan and Peniel. The acting will be done by Ben, Taylor and any other additional characters that we may need.

Location scouting

Location scouting: The Task will take place in Waltham Cross KFC, this is the location that Jonathan has decided would be the best place to shoot the short film. They have given us permission to shoot in there so we will not be causing any trouble or unexpected problems for them. It will be at the back of KFC as we do not want to disturb their customer service area's.

Shooting schedule
